| - It's a really local kinda bar, where the waitress knows everyone, and everyone's a regular. After 5 whole minutes of confusion waiting to be seated, we sat ourselves down at a booth near the bar. It was really dim-, sorry no, there was no light. We thought about leaving as nobody came to serve us but just as we were about to put our coats back on, the waitress came with laminated plastic menus.
We could barely read because of the lack of lighting, but I ordered the Fish and Chips.
None of us ladies ordered beer, but my friend got a martini, which came in a large portion but alas, no fancy small sippy straw. My other friend ordered a Cesar, which she didn't gush nor complain about so I'm assuming it was ok.
After 20 minutes, the food finally came. The food wasn't piping hot, off the stove, but it was decent, good enough to eat.
pros
- fish had a good amount of crispy batter
- relatively fresh served
- Curried fries were awesome - the curry was really aromatic (surprising for a local old Richmond Hill pub)
- THE SEATS WERE SO SOFT
cons
- a bit too dim for an enjoyable atmospheric effect
- service takes forever (it wasn't a really busy night, so only 2 servers were working. nonetheless they were occupied)
With all the other options along old Richmond Hill "downtown", I don't know if I'd come here again - maybe on a rowdier night, but nothing is particularly enticing about this place.
