| - Wow, I'm so disappointed after wanting to try this place for so long! I've been going to The Blind Pig for years now, and have always wanted to try its sister restaurants but never got around to it.
We stopped in for dinner and there were lots of open tables. The hostess asks us if we have a reservation, we say no, and she acts like this is not going to be okay at all. She then asks us if we were okay sitting on the covered patio, which was our preference anyway. All I can say is, the first impression that we were given by the hostess was not a good start and she did not have a good attitude or pleasant demeanor at all.
Once we sat down, this was actually quite a nice and cozy spot for dinner. The wait staff brought really good garlic toast, but only gave us one at a time. I love bread so obviously this didn't make me the happiest. Our waitress was obviously very busy, as the table next to us ordered as we were ready to order but we didn't get to order for another 15-20 minutes. The waitress did communicate that she needed to visit other tables and take their order because they got there before us, but this was kind of ridiculous and I felt wasn't done efficiently. Eventually, we were able to place our order for penne alla vodka and veal milanese.
We waited SO LONG for our food. Uncle Sal's menu does say "good food takes time", but this took excessively long. The table next to us that ordered when we were ready to order literally ate their whole meal, chatted, and left before our food came out. When the veal finally came out after nearly an hour, it was not even lukewarm. The veal milanese was actually tasty and by that time I was so hungry that I ate it all. Then our waitress informed us that they couldn't find the penne alla vodka and it needed to be "tracked down" because someone else may have wrongfully taken it. After I finished eating my veal (about another 20-30 minutes), the waitress comes back with a new penne alla vodka, which did not taste right at all.
When we let her know, the waitress proceeded to apologize and offer dessert on the house. When my boyfriend asked her to comp his dish because he didn't even want to eat the terrible pasta he waited so long for, the waitress said she couldn't do that and she would have to get a manager in a very dissuasive way. The waitress then started acting quite rude in my opinion, going to other tables and saying very loudly that they were really busy and that their PATIENCE was greatly appreciated. I felt that we were more than patient, but I also don't feel like we should pay for a dish that we are dissatisfied with. Furthermore, we did not want to wait much longer since we had been there for over 2 hours and didn't expect dinner to take so long. When the manager finally came, we explained this to her. I felt that this manager did not do her job well at all. Her apology was insincere to say the least and she did not give us direct or definitive responses. After she left our table, we were expecting a bill that didn't come for 20 minutes and so we just decided to leave at that point. The manager didn't tell us she was comp'ing our entire meal, as we just wanted the penne alla vodka to be taken off our bill. However, because I told her about my cold meal she probably just comp'ed the whole thing.
Needless to say, I will not be returning here ever again and don't advise anyone to go here. There are MUCH better places, with MUCH better service.
