  • This store is horrible. They always have bikes out on the sidewalk for sale and posters in the windows about big discounts. This is why I came here after shopping around here and there for the past 2 years for a bike. I am a novice beginner with bikes so this post is meant to share my experiences. Big mistake. I got a lemon. Several weeks after getting the bike, the back tire went flat. While one could argue I ran over something sharp, I do not believe this is the case. When I asked where the tire was damaged, they could not tell me. The service department was to call me when the repairs were done, but didnt. I had to go in a week later to find out what was the hold up. They just forgot to call, despite the fact they promised a call. When I took the bike back into the shop for repairs, I asked the front cashier personal about bike racks. I was told to go online to the website and look for one since they didnt carry what I wanted in the store. When I told them I was on their company specific website and couldnt find what I wanted, they told me to go talk to the service department in the back of the store. They are a bunch of young people with no bike knowledge, just looking to make a sale, yet have no sales experience. When I mentioned I was online and looked at other websites but didnt know what size rack I needed for my bike, again no answers. I was expected to just buy random racks and hope for the best and if it didnt work, send it back, Finally, an older gentleman who works the service department told me where to go online and find what I needed and a phone number to call. When I was in the service department, one of the service men (again young person with no experience) told me my kick stand was hard to use. Thats a no brainer since I have to use a hammer to get it to go back so I can ride my bike, but did he fix it? No! That same service department young man told me I had a package ready for pickup. When I told him that I did not have a package, he opened it up and it was clothes ordered by another customer with the same last name. What if I had taken the package that didnt belong to me and kept it? That other person would have been out financially and not recieved his product. When I first bought the bike to bring it home, the front desk person took the bike apart and put it in my car. I spent an hour at home trying to figure out how to put it back together again since he didnt not show me how to do this through a demonstration. When I had to return the bike to the store for the back tire repair, I had to laod the bike into my SUV in one piece and drive to the store with my trunk gate hanging open, which was a challege since that original sales person did not teach me how to take the bike apart. I will say that I eventually went to Sun Cyclery in Phoenix AZ on 7th Street. All my questions and concerns were addressed in one visit and I learned my lesson. Go to Sun Cyclery and never return to Performance Bikes again. I only gave Performanace Bikes 1 star since there is nothing less and there is only 1 competent employee in this store, the older man who works in the service dept. If he is off, you are out of luck and left to the wolves.
