I've been to Foodie Fest several years now. A few years ago it was at the Linq and then another at The Silverton. They were at Sunset this year and last (2016). It's a fun thing to do with your friends on the weekend and the variety of food/drinks you have at your fingertips make it great too - everyone gets to eat/try a little bit of everything!
Unfortunately one of the things I hate most is that you have to pay to get in to Foodie Fest, and then pay again for the food which can be a little bit more expensive than what you're used to. For some food trucks that I've been to outside of Foodie Fest, I notice their prices increase a few bucks. I totally get it too, cause it's an event, but just something to think about when deciding to come.
My favorite things are always about how much variety there is. There are food vendors/trucks from LA in, so great opportunity to explore some food trucks we normally may not get otherwise.
Would I highly recommend / rave about this? Probably not. If you were to ask me if you should go, id be like "only if you have nothing better to do but wanna do something kinda cool or if you like the food truck experience." Otherwise save your money... this can wait.
