  • My wife and I are debating whether to move our 15 month old to another practice. While we like the doctors, PA's and nurses we find the front office organization to be really really bad. Our typical wait time in the lobby is usually 45 minutes. I have waited an hour on at least two separate occasions. My wife has had similar experiences. Most recently I arrived ten minutes early and checked in. When checking in I was told I owed a co-pay. I advised her that we never pay a co-pay because of the way our insurance is set up. She insisted so I paid. 10-15 minutes later I was called up by another employee who wanted me to check in. A fellow employee informed her that I already checked in and after much confusion and file shuffling she said I could sit down. About 30 minutes later I was called up to be admitted. The nurse weighed my son and took us to one of the examination rooms. She quickly realized that the front office assigned our file to the wrong doctor and we had to go back to the lobby. I was told we would be the next patient admitted. About 15-20 minutes later another nurse called us up to be admitted. That nurse wanted to weigh my son again. Apparently the first nurse didn't write down his weight. Not a big deal right? It is when your son has a double ear infection, is miserable and won't cooperate. When the PA saw us, she was wonderful. She was attentive, very upbeat, and patient when I described the bad experience that we had. She seemed genuinely distraught and concerned for our well being. She brought my issues to the attention of Dr Scharff. Apparently he's the guy in charge of managing the front office. He unfortunately didn't want to hear my griping. He interrupted me and proceeded to tell me how he had hired three new people just that week and that I would have to be patient while the new staff were trained and brought up to speed. Gang, look below. This practice has had complaints about the front office for at least two years. And Dr Scharff wants a medal because he hired three new people in late September 2015??? I popped onto Yelp today wondering if my experience was unique and if so I would chill out. Now that I see multiple people have had the same lousy experience I'll talk to my wife and see if she's ready to find another Pediatrician.
