| - We actually came here through Yelp's help, looking for a diner or a brunch place close to the Az Science Center. Dont be deceived or be scared by the neighborhood, it is not the suburbs, it is within a residential area in Downtown Phoenix. This place is a cross between a food truck that mutated into a tiny diner: the inside has 9 seats and a bar and their kitchen and outside has this "picnic" feel which has tables with umbrellas and chairs. Our family of 5 (with kids ages 8, 7 and 5) chose to sit inside. We were there upon opening, the waiter and cook (Wayne and Clay, if I remember correctly) were very attentive to our family's needs. My hubby got the Big Jim. He said he loved his food except for the biscuit, but he said hes not really into biscuits. But the chicken and gravy were tasty and well-seasoned. Had the fish po' boy and it was juicy! My kids and I were passing our plates, stuffing our faces with each bite of their grilled cheese with rustic tomatoes sandwich, sunrise and my po boy. My 5 year old son whos a really picky eater almost finished his sanwich and thats a lot for him! Im giving Welcome Diner 4 stars, I wish you have more beverage choices for kids like freshly squeezed OJ? Nevertheless, we will be back!
