| - I have debated on whether to write a review or not, but it has been months and I know lots of people rely on the reviews to make up their minds on places.
I booked an appointment with them for my wedding (myself, my bridesmaids and my mom). The whole atmosphere and staff were really nice, and I really wanted to like them. I had a trial run for my hair and makeup weeks before the big day, and that is when things started to be not so great. My hair was beautiful at the trial, but the makeup and the application were not so great. First off, the application was done in such a way that even the most amateur makeup artist does not use anymore. Second, the lighting is not great. You see yourself in the mirror and think this looks good and then go out in the sunlight and you look completely different. I voice my concerned about the makeup application and they listen to me and made sure I got a second trial. At the second trial, they made sure I felt better about my makeup and did a decent job. I still had some doubts, but I could fix all of these at home.
The day of the wedding came and I was ready with my own makeup bag just in case and thank god for that because I ended up fixing my own makeup so that I looked more like myself. Again, all the ladies were warm, welcoming and accommodating, they let us bring snacks and mimosas, but the makeup was bad. My airbrush makeup did end up looking more like my skin color this time, but everything else was questionable. I ended up fixing my contour to look more natural, my eyeshadow to blend correctly and my eyeliner to have a more cat-eye look. Again, the brushes that they used, were completely wrong, starting from the size to the shape. My nose contour was done with a large brush, that made the dark color not only go on the sides of my nose but also under my eyes. Due to the way that the eyeshadow and eyeliner were done, I felt that my eyes took on a different shape, they looked droopy. The lip color that was picked out, did not look good on my skin color in sunlight, it was extremely too light and looked wrong. I ended up using my own makeup collection to redo my own makeup at the ceremony site.
As for my bridesmaids and mom. My mom came out, looking different too, she did not like the makeup look that she ended up fixing it at home too. My bridesmaids did like their makeup, but they looked older than they are and by dinner time, the makeup was cracking in areas and highlighting the wrinkles that they have. They also complained for the $20 extra charge for eyelashes! $20 !? I do not know what kind of eyelashes they used, but they were not $20 quality, I have seen better at Walgreens.
Overall, it was a bad experience, but I guess you pay for what you get. This was the cheapest place I found and now I know why. I would not go there again, even if the staff is really nice. I overpaid to get crappy makeup done, that I ended up doing myself later on. I should have just done my makeup myself, I am no expert, but I do know what brushes to use and how to apply it. The same goes for my mom and my bridesmaids, I kept hearing about how they ended up paying money to fix their makeup all week long following the wedding. I am highly disappointed that I paid so much money to not feel pretty leaving the salon the 3 times I was there. What I will say, is if you go get your hair done, they are good, so there is that.
