Where do I even begin with Gaucho? This is one of the best restaurants in the city, and an absolute must-try if you haven't been yet.
Gaucho is a tiny little place in the Strip that you might miss if you're not looking for it. Often times when you drive past you'll see lines out the door at this small brick building. I actually like the way Gaucho is set up - instead of being seated and having a waiter, you just wait in line to order at the register and then go scope out a table. The employees will call out your order as soon as it's ready. Overall I think this strategy makes the process go a little more quickly, which is good since it's always so packed! They don't take reservations here, but if you come on a weekday before around 6 PM you shouldn't have to wait long at all. My boyfriend and I came on a Wednesday at 5:45 and had no problem finding a table and getting our food in record time. Bring a bottle of wine with you - this is one of the only restaurants in the city that I've discovered that is truly BYOB (no uncorking fee!).
I've been to Gaucho twice now and have been overly impressed with the food both times. Absolutely everything on the menu here is so deliciously flavorful; you honestly can't make a bad choice when deciding what to get. I highly recommend the classic steak sandwich with the rib-eye. The roasted vegetables are also a favorite. I have never had such delicious grilled veggies in my life! The steak empanadas are also wonderful. The best part about Gaucho's food, in my opinion, is the way that all the strong flavors mesh together so beautifully. You won't find a bland dish here!
This is one of those restaurants in Pittsburgh that I will keep coming back to again and again. If you haven't been, you need to go TODAY!
