| - I love, love, love St. Lawrence Market. So many people, so much stuff to buy and so little time.
I have to say, I lived in Halifax for four years, and they have a Farmer's Market but it's nothing like this. It's open for four hours on Saturday. That's it. I love that the St. Lawrence Market is open all weekend, all day. Obviously though, to get the best produce you'll want to go earlier but for those who aren't early risers, don't fret, you can still pick up something tasty for dinner.
This place has EVERYTHING you could ever want when it comes to food and at really good prices. I bought 20 kabobs here last week for $20. And they did not scrimp on the meat either. They have bettter prices on most produce than your grocery store would (two pints of fresh ontario blueberries for $5!) Plus the selection of exotic and international food you find here is unparalleled. Asian, Greek, Jewish, Italian... you name it they've got it. From fish, meat and poultry to cheese and olives and bread and veggies and fruits to mustards and dips and homemade pies... this is the way to grocery shop!
And even if you're broke - go here for the samples! You'll be filled up by the time you leave, I promise.
If you are looking for a meal, the Greek place downstairs is to die for. Fresh gyros with tons of meat veggies, salad, rice and potatoes (I love how they give you both!) for around $8!
There's also an antique area across the street that sells tons of great stuff at bargain prices. They've got records, furniture, jewelery, clothing! There is no better place to be on Saturday morning (or afternoon) then St. Lawrence Market!
