First, this is a really personal review so I apologize for what is probably TMI. :) haha!
I am from Charlotte, NC and had gone to Ana at this location for months before I moved to San Diego, CA. I was back in town last month for an extended stay and was due for a wax. I called and made an appointment for a full leg/Brazilian with another waxer before leaving on a family vacation in the mountains. My appointment was right before I was going to get on the road to the mountains and I knew that these waxes typically do not take longer than 30 minutes so I figured j could squeeze it in.
When I arrived for my appointment, I got an older black woman as my waxer. She was friendly and nice. She began waxing and I noticed a few things right away:
1. She wasn't pulling the wax off against the direction of my hair, which is the opposite that ice always had done- resulting in very little hair coming off with the wax.
2. She used so much baby powder that it was all over my shirt (which was pulled up) and the wax wasn't adhering to my legs like it usually does.
3. She wasn't waxing in strips like I was accustomed to, she literally was covering very large portions (like at one point my whole lower leg) in wax at a time.
When I noticed these things, I decided to give her a little grace to see how the situation would turn out. I'm a firm believer that there is more than one way to get from point A to point B. That wasn't the case in this situation. After spending 50 minutes on the table with wax strings and hair still on my legs, I said "thank you" and hopped up off the table. My legs were a hairy, powdery, waxy disaster.
When I got to the front I waited until the waxer left and asked for the managers phone number. I called the manager and explained the situation to her. She assured me I would be reimbursed to my account for the wax and asked if I would like to come back in and get the waxing re done. I told her my situation- that I was in town visiting and was getting ready to go to the mountains and didn't have time to come back in to be fixed before I left town. Therefore I decided I would just have to let my patchy legs grow back out and even out before my next wax.
Fast forward to this month- I go into my normal European wax center in San Diego and get waxed. Upon checking out I ask the receptionist to tell me my account details. She said I received a $45 credit for the waxing situation the occurred in Charlotte. Anyone who waxed here regularly knows that a full leg wax and a Brazilian costs far more that $45- the manager at the Charlotte location had not reimbursed me as she promised. Not to mention the inconvenience of having hairy legs for another 4 weeks (during the summer) while waiting for the hair growth to even back out. That will be the last time I go to the Sharon location when I'm in Charlotte.
