Really bummed.
I love Lawrenceville for it's up and coming restaurant variety however Matteo's did not deliver on that promise. It will be hard to go back with Piccolo Forno and Cure right down the street. The location is prime however Matteo needs to add some special touch to his restaurant and menu that will keep the people coming back.
First, the menu. It is hard to read and understand, not to mention not very impressive. It is broken down into appetizers, pasta and meats. The pasta choices are not even on the menu and they do not offer a whole wheat variety. Warning - if you are looking for someplace healthy to eat, it is not here. Very comfort food related.
We started with the grilled polenta in a creme sauce which was delicious. We then each ordered one pasta dish and meat dish to split. We ordered the linguine with white clam sauce and the veal saltimbocca. The linguine was much better than the veal.
Granted this place has only been open for a month but I would really like to see an improvement made by the staff to make this place more marketable.
