| - Holy shit. You're telling me that the "Sound Academy" that I keep hearing people talk about is what I still think of in my head as "The Docks"?
That makes a lot of sense, now that I think of it. When did I get so old and out of touch?
Well, all I can speak of is when it went by its former name. I don't know about the rest of you, but I kind of hated it. I saw some really great shows there, but the last time I did, I *swore* I would never go back. I have a thing with indoor venues that feel like they are big enough to be outdoor. Frankly, it frightens me. This one was so huge and felt like a narrow rectangular-ish shape that had the stage at one of its short sides. Does that make sense? Cuz that would put me, the attendee at the *other*, opposite short side. It makes for feeling incredibly disconnected to what's happening on stage.
Also, the last time I was there, I lost one of my favourite sweaters and got harassed with my friends by a scalper who was angry that we were trying to sell a ticket (to Belle and frigging Sebastian!) for a regular price, to the very people he was trying to rip off. The remote location was horrible for all the expected and imagined reasons, but felt even worse at that moment. Ugh.
