And what is this? An independent espresso bar with a selection of staff offering grand expressions of ennui? Now that's novel. It may be a cliche, but these bored baristas serve up what I've found to be some of the best espresso in the city. I don't really care that the dude isn't up for a grin - that cappuccino is freaking amazing, and I wouldn't want to work on Sunday either. The lattes are smooth and prepared with beans that seem perfectly roasted. The Bulldog ( a latte and a cappuccino hybrid) is my favourite, but if you want something decadent, go for the Blanco Bulldog (oh my god. chocolate syrup swirls and magic - not for every day).
I haven't tried any of their baked goods (oh, except for the scones, which I LOVE - but I think they're made by an outside local baker, pretty sure I've had them at other cafes); I hear the croissants are fab.
They've got a few tables indoors so you can chill there, but Bulldog isn't really suited for lounging. But I do suggest drinking your latte in the glass at least once - tastes so much better than in a takeout cup!
