Stayed here as part of a corporate event. If this review comes off as a bit schizophrenic, it's probably because this hotel has two personalities: Beautiful grand dame and wrinkly granny. The public spaces are pretty great, particularly the lobby. Once you go up those elevators, the historic nature of the hotel loses some charm. The gym is pretty small and the pool area looks like a set from "Dallas." The rooms are OK in the important ways. They're clean, the bedding is good, and they have decent decor. They're also pretty small and feature ancient (but clean) bathrooms and wallpaper that was probably installed during the Carter administration. Overall, I liked it just fine, but I can see why people paying their own money would be pissed off once they opened their room. It needs a renovation, but it's serviceable for now. If you like historic hotels and get a good rate, the location is excellent, and the rooms are decent.
