THANK YOU FOR TAKING WALK-IN CUSTOMERS!!!
My poor beagle ate a whole pack of bagels. I don't know how she did it but the hound in her took over and she didn't know when to stop. She looked like death when I got home from work and found the empty bag. She was laying on the couch clenching her belly, having diarrhea, vomiting, and just laying in her own excrement because she couldn't move. I was freaking out and new I had to get her to emergency because she was in a lot of pain and her belly was bloated very large.
I called around to a few vet hospitals but this was the only one in my area that could see her immediately. I was frantic and upset and it was helpful to me that they were just as urgent with her as anyone else with a pet emergency and they were very sweet and sincere towards us.
We were taken back to the exam room within 10 minutes of arriving. The nurse/aid (not sure what she is called) came in and took my pup's vitals and took detailed notes about what happened. Then the doc came in and examined her. Luckily, she just needed some anti-nausea and fluids because she had puked up most of the bagel mass. It was super reassuring talking with the vet about our options for treatment.
The cost for them to see your pet in an emergency situation is currently $99. Anything else that is done (x-rays, shots, surgeries) is extra on top of that. I was relieved that my dog didn't need to have surgery or anything and she's doing very well now, a week later. She's back to normal and happy as ever.
Again, thank you to the staff at Metropolitan!
