Took my 2000 Ford in to have them check the transmission, told them it seemed to be shifting inappropriately. They called back and told me it was not the transmission at all, the there was a whole list of problems with carbon build up, mass air flow sensor, throttle, on and on ... Total estimate was over $3000 And they said the dipstick was broken off!
I agreed to a "4 stage fuel injector cleaning" for $300.
That did absolutely nothing, car ran just as badly when I got it back.
A couple of days later the check engine light came on. I took it to Autozone and guess what, "transmission range sensor"!!!
A quick and easy fix and car runs perfectly.
Since I change my own oil and the dipstick was intact when i did that and Greulich's were the only other people under my hood, that is very suspicious, too.
Stay away!
