  • This has been on my bucket list and I was finally able to check it off when I came to Vegas for spring break in March. It was about a 45 minute drive from Las Vegas. Parking is $10 unless you park away from the dam for free. We bought the guided tour for $30 per person and you start off watching a ten minute video then they take you on a elevator ride to see where they hold the water and stuff. It was cool. I am claustrophobic so being in the elevator going down 50 floors with about 20 people gave me anxiety so if you are like me, brace yourselves. Overall, it was most definitely something to see and learning all the history facts were intriguing. The men worked 365 days a year with only two days off until the dam was built for only a couple dollars a day... How crazy is that?! There is a lot of walking and it was 90 degrees when I went so it would be beneficial to prepare for the walking and the weather. The reason why I put 4 stars is because it's a little too expensive. For example, at the beginning of the tour they take a picture of you in front of a green screen and it was very expensive and pointless to purchase because you can take your own picture in front of the dam. The tour guide was nice enough take our picture in front of the bridge and the dam.
