Let me start by saying that Clint B's review led us here and I can't wait to go back!
While I'd dreamed of this being a much slower, lingering experience while choosing our doughnuts and savoring each bite, our trip sped up towards the end and we rushed to find the place, to order, then I paused only slightly to take a few bites of the doughnut! My kids wound up saving theirs until later on the way home.
There are so many that I'd dreamed of when planning my trip here, the Apple Bacon Fritter, the Mexican Chocolate to name a few - visually the doughnuts captivated me, but I yearned for what promised to be amazing flavor combinations.
When we walked in I told the kids to read the menu choices, but my son tends to be a creature of habit and chose the thing that looked most like what he is used to - a coconut chocolate cake doughnut - she went with "Whatever he's having!"
I went straight for the bacon! I chose a maple bacon doughnut that had the lightest fluffiest dream of a marscapone center. The bacon on top gave it some texture as well as salt to balance out the light maple sweetness. I didn't lose one piece of bacon glitter!
Our three-thumb review is 2.5 thumbs up (but I know we can do better!). My son gave it half thumbs up because his doughnut was good but not as unique as I'd sold him on. (What he didn't know is that he chose a Vegan doughnut so the fact that he had no idea gives it an extra 1/2 thumb in my book). My daughter loved hers and theirs held up well despite the delay in eating them a few hours later. I know my daughter can't wait to return because she had a wistful twinge in her voice when I mentioned Nutella and Captain Crunch options. I will be looking to relive that light center and have developed a whole new appreciation for marscapone thanks to O Face!
