I took my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee in for service on a light issue. I told the service writer that I wanted to replace the driver floor mat expecting to be under 100.00. Later I was given a report on my vehicle for recommended fixes. That simple floor mat was 220.00 for a set naturally I laughed and said no way. There was a laundry list of items that added up to nearly 3,500.00. Now my vehicle has only 75000 miles on it and is worth about 7000.00. This list while detailed was completely a wish list. I visited another dealership and had the same inspection and guess what, 98% of the items required no service.
Items that stuck out were when they told me that my vehicle had an oil pan leak that would require about 700.00 to fix. The other dealership changed the oil and gasket for 30.00 and the issue was fixed.
Another was that I needed new shocks as mine were leaking oil. Lets see 750000 miles on car and you want me to change shocks again to a jeep product that only lasted that long? Reviewed this with other jeep dealership and we had a good laugh as they told me the shocks are fine.
Just amazed at how badly this dealership tried to invent issues to fix. Will never use that dealership again.
