  • I usually enjoy writing a positive review but in this case I cannot. I had sunscreens on all windows of my home but the two garage windows on the north side. I called Affordable and when they came out showed them my screens and told them I wanted the ones on the north side the same. My screens fully cover the white frame of the windows and my house is brown so they stick out. They measured and told me a price of $140.00. I was traveling so it was 2 weeks before we could arrange a time for them to come back. I worked from home that day so I could be there and was given a window of 10am-12:30pm and I asked for more 10am then 12 as I had a meeting at 12:30. Sure enough they came about 12:40pm and I had to interrupt my meeting for a minute. Told them to install and I would be right out. Even wrote a post-it that said go to the outside refrigerator and help yourself to a drink, come in and sit down, and I will be with you as soon as my meeting ends. They had finished and waited in their truck a few minutes for me. When I came out the frames were about 1/2 inch smaller than the frame as they had installed them with those thumb turn screws versus just screwed them into my frame like all the others. The frame and screens were brown so the color matched. A discussion proceeded where I reiterated I said the screens to be exact and why would I want my white frames showing. The lead installer stated words to the effect it was not clear and we both made a mistake. In hindsight I should have told them to take the screens down and I'll get someone else but I had waited for these (my availability) and they did cover the window. Fortunately I was having other contracting work done and I could get the painter to paint the exposed window frames. We negotiated a price of $115 but that was after the total original price was $153 and change with tax which they did not tell me. Not big deal but I don't like being surprised. In summary, I would not recommend or use this contractor again as I was clear and still do not understand how they would misinterpret existing screens that fully cover the window frames for ones that left half the white frame exposed? I know I stated I didn't like the white frames as they stood out. Why would I want those thumb clip screws when all my other windows were screwed on? The lead installer had a bit of an attitude too versus customer service oriented. To be fair I did examine the screens later and they seem to be of good quality, etc. Giving 1 star for poor attitude.
