Carl worked on a couple of car for us in the past and did an AMAZING job. With that said I had a1972 Porsche 914 towed to Carl (after long discussion about him being able to complete the work) to get this car up and running again. I gave Carl Checks up front to cover the expenses he said he would need (lets just say its over $3500). He took my checks and I left the car with Carl in August of 2016. I told Carl I was in no hurry to get the car back. I followed up with Carl after the first of the Year (2017) and was told he need a couple of more months and the job should be complete (now that was March or early April). I followed up again with Carl in April. After numerous phone calls and text messages with no reply. I received a message that another part was faulty and he needed more money (which I sent). I heard nothing again until I sent another text asking if the car was running yer, which Carl replied "it is not getting spark, it will crank but no spark." I asked to meet with him in mid June which I was told he wouldn't be able to meet until the end of the month. When we were schedule to meet he sent me a text that he was in Esmeralda county and his truck was overheating. So again I ask him "when will the car be ready? Will it be early August? No answer sent another text on August 4th to follow up on a VM I had left saying "I wanted to pick the car up on August 14th, please make sure its ready." On August 15th I told him I was coming to pick up the car and he then told me it would be another $800. I asked for a itemized receipt and thats when Carl called me. He said he could finish the car because "he had already put so much work into it he wanted to finish it". I asked if I left out with him could it be complete and running by the first week in November second week at the latest his answer was "yes". Well On October 28th I received a text from Carl that says "Ron, the city wrote violation notices for all the cars with no registration, you'll have to tow it". What are the odds that the week before he actually committed to having this car complete and running the city issues violations (this car is registered non-op) the week before it is to be ready for pick up. I am having the car towed to another facility to have them look at the car and tell me what has been complete and what still needs to be done to get this car up and running. I will update after my car is complete. It was just delivered and I h ave held off posting anything until the car was out of Carls shop.
