  • Best. Store. Ever. Whether you're looking to gear-up for an outdoor adventure or just want to grab a new knapsack for school MEC is the only place to go in Toronto. The staff are friendly, cool, knowledgeable, and never pushy. The selection and quality of products are very high. Prices may seem high at first glance but are generally better than any other outdoor store and are especially reasonable considering the high quality. Customer service and return policy are second to none. The space is beautifully lit, open, and well organized. And, if you care about this sort of thing, MEC is a members cooperative with a commitment to social and environmental issues. There was a time when I'd spend a few hours a week at MEC browsing and buying gear that I probably didn't need. These days I'm a less frequent visitor, primarily because I've bought almost everything they sell, but I still enjoy stopping by occasionally. My only complaint about MEC is that I'm not particularly found of their clothing and outerwear selection these days. And, unlike other departments in the store, the clothing department has very little selection other than the MEC branded merchandise. On the few occasions I've had to visit MEC's American equivalent, REI, I found them to be much better in this respect.
