| - Separate review for the Bistro, which was subpar (other than the people being super nice).
Stayed here before a race, and WOW! Loved it! Check-In started with the outstandingly friendly desk staff. Marriott Elites get to roll two dice for two rewards, good for points, food, etc. I also got a wine coupon (thus setting me up to quench a craving). Everyone I met in the hotel was welcoming and friendly, including the custodian mopping the floor at 6am who answered my half-asleep "good morning" with a far more chipper and warm morning greeting than I had mustered. Bravo - the place reeks of good leadership.
The room was smallish but nicely appointed with a lovely comfy bed (and a too-bright alarm clock...easily ameliorated with a tee shirt to cover it). My favorite part was the genius construction of the glass-wall shower, with the handle near the door and the shower head opposite, such that one doesn't get soaked when reaching in to turn on the shower. Ahhhhh.... The room also had a teeny little fridge, run-of-the-mill hotel coffee pot, and a TV in the desk area - not looming dominantly in front of the bed, which I can't stand. (I am not a TV watcher.)
Great experience overall. If I need a bed in this part of Scottsdale, I'd definitely stay here in future, though I would skip the Bistro (separate review).
