| - This is a thing I have to make sure I do every year, but I'm still unsure of the reason why.. sure it's pretty, and sure it gets you into the christmas mood with that gigantic tree.. but do I really want to brave the crowd for this?!
Parking is ALWAYS a nightmare, especially if you come during the day or early evening. We must've wandered in and out of at least 4 lots nearby before finally finding one that was a 5 minute walk away at lower sherbourne. Ugh. WHY. I'd definitely say park somewhere else for cheaper and uber to the market instead of pulling out your hair and youth from trying to find a good spot.
The market inside is packed af, with slow old ladies to running children high on sugar to couples that came here for a picture on their instagram.. I hate crowds and this really puts me in a bad mood especially when I come to get my spirits uplifted. This is just so touristy and it pisses me off. Now, no denying that there's a lot of effort and thought put into it. It's beautiful, with the huge tree, the stringy lights and the atmosphere. I'd love to imagine being in a empty christmas market at night (I can only hope, right?) It's hard to take a nice pic when there are so many heads in the way.
The stalls that sell food/candy/drinks are so cute. I love getting the turkey leg because it's so meaty and delish. I can't NOT have it! It's definitely worth the line and the folks at mill st know what they're doing because that line moves fast. There's also a hot chocolate booth I'm a huge fan of (drink of the god's) OMG it's pure chocolate that tastes like a less thick, rich creamy cadbury fondue. For $3 for a small cup, it's definitely worth something!! Uncle Betty's freshly made donuts are a gem as well- so piping hot and delicious.. that's right, make your own diet hate you.
PS. My condolences if you plan on eating here inside the distillery while you're at the xmas market.. (eg. mill st, pure spirits, el catrin..) YOU'RE IN FOR A SURPRISE.. aka a 2hr wait for meh food?! Nah, wait till you leave!
