| - So here's me: I'm an active guy who doesn't really have formal training in weight lifting. Having been in town for a winter break, I took advantage of their free trial period (it's a week long), and could not have been happier with my experience.
FunkFit is a surprisingly roomy gym, tucked into the bustling area that is downtown Gilbert. (Seriously, I've been frequently this area for a while without processing that it was right in front of me). I elected for a few semi-private classes that included 1-2 other participants. I easily felt that the instructors were capable of balancing my novice abilities with those of the regular gym-goers in my group. My instructors were both very patient with me and gently (although effectively) motivated me to push myself harder. The workouts themselves were very dynamic and really got me working. Classes are generally run to the theme of the day, either endurance or strength (and within each category there is degree of variation). The instructors effectively had each of us working to our own pace within the scope of the exercises. And they REALLY kept us moving.
If you're looking for a gym to get involved in, I would highly recommend giving them a try with their trial period. I felt so welcomed here. The establishment is open and clean (with easy parking behind the building). There are group, private, and semi private classes available, so you can really cater your experience to what you're looking for. Even the age range of attendees was a complete spectrum, suggesting the staff can work with anyone with the motivation to get started on their fitness goals.
Honestly, I was just looking for a kettle bell class initially and found so much more in FunkFit. I absolutely have no regrets about my experience (even despite how sore they got me).
