| - I saw Streetlight Manifesto last night, which was an 18+ concert. Doors were supposed to open at 7:30, but they didn't let people in until around an hour later. However, that wasn't my biggest issue.
My biggest issue, though, was how they arranged the venue. Those who were 21+ years old had the majority of the standing area in the venue, while those who were between 18-20 years old were sectioned off in a very tiny area on the very side of the venue. It was a very unfair and outrageous arrangement, especially considering that those people paid more for their ticket than people who were 21+. It almost ruined my entire concert experience, and I would have left early if it weren't for Streetlight Manifesto's performance.
I was told that this arrangement was to control alcohol distribution and to prevent alcohol from getting to minors. If that was the case, I felt that they could have made better arrangements that could still control distribution. They could have split the standing area right down the middle so both age groups had equal amounts of standing area. Better yet, they could have even closed the bar area off to people who are 21+; have a security guard stationed at the entrance to check ID; have another security guard or two stationed at the barriers; and then prevented those concert goers from leaving the bar until they were finished drinking. That way, alcohol distribution could still be controlled while the standing area would be open to everyone else without unnecessary segregation.
Either way, I will not be returning to this venue after last night.
