I just took the first bite out of the Salted Caramel Cookie Dough Brownie before writing about this place. And it tastes somewhat like it's namesake: a chocolate cake base, topped with what I assume is the cookie dough flavored cream frosting, finished off with two brownie chunks and a hefty drizzle of caramel to compliment the brownies. Ooh! There are even pieces of cookie dough as part of the topping!
Sweet Olenka's was a convenient yet unexpected discovery while trying to find a choice bakery to satisfy my need for a dessert after leaving Bar Fancy. Our little group were walking maybe just a block east to the nearest street-car stop when my eyes caught sight of a glassed structure situation around the far end of a parking lot. I just kept looking at it and as we got closer within range, I saw what looked like a cake display in the window and I literally went "land ho!" in my head. My friends didn't want dessert so I parted ways with them and eagerly lumbered on towards the store. I was so glad I did!
The amount of cakes and confectionery inside are not overwhelming and I was able to look around quickly to check out everything that was in sight. I then got two of their big looking cupcakes which look like parfaits placed on a cupcake and that fulfilled my sweet quest for the evening. The other cupcake that I got was a Blueberry Waffle cupcake which I tried first when I got home. The cake base looks like a Blueberry Muffin but tastes less dense, and the frosting and toppings were also not too sweet. I also say the same for the Salted Caramel cupcake as all the flavors of the entire cake does not over-power each other and I haven't been left feeling like I overdosed on sucrose after finishing each cake.
What a treat! I'll definitely head back there sometime in the future :-)
