  • UPDATE. I popped in here to find something urgently needed. There are weird happenings at this store that it no longer feels like a Canadian business. Communication was time-consuming because some frontend workers could not understand my request as they are not english fluent. What I like is that the cashier girls here are good with bagging our groceries, but there is no clear signage as to where to line up for check out. The front end is disorganized. --------------- This store has a self-serve checkout and they usually carry what I need and on the rare occasion I will encounter a knowledgeable employee, which is why I give it two stars...but sadly many of their cashiers and self-checkout clerks are very, very inexperienced. They also seem to recruit alot of foreign looking people. They are not fully knowledgeable about the policies and promotions, rather than check with the manager, they will often misinform or BS the customer. What is terribly annoying is that rather than be facilitating, they give the customer a hard time when there is an error to be fixed... or they give the customer the runaround, without any consideration for our time...and they don't even apologize or give us anything for the inconvenience. Do they not clue in that we have jobs to get to? As well, the Indian guy who handles the self-scan checkout misleads customers on minor matters...when he is able to authorize a transaction, he tells the customer he isn't and then unnecessarily delays the customer. He at times gives some of us the runaround. When the scanner does not work properly, he implies the customer is doing something wrong, which is not nice. And sometimes his tone of voice towards certain customers is rude. When he is a cashier, he does offer to bag groceries for some customers. The ongoing annoyance with this store has been a continuing saga. It's funny how the workers confer with each other as to how something should be done, when the longtime customers have more knowledge about Sobeys' practices...and in the end they don't get it right. This store was starting to get its act together until they changed all their employees. If you have time to waste dealing with their growing pains, all the power to you...but, I will not be visiting this store again unless it is dire circumstances.
