| - I've never come to Yelp to voice my displeasure about an establishment, but I guess there is a first time for everything. While poor service happens occasionally (and I get that & am OK with that), rude, hostile and downright distasteful/ignorant service is something that I do not believe should be tolerated. Will try my best to share specific details as it was relatively comical looking back on it.
Came here because everywhere else nearby was wait listed and were able to squeeze the 5 of us into a table for 4. Ordered a round of tequila and a drink for the birthday girl. As well, half of us ordered mixed drinks/beer, while the other half said they would wait until after the tequila to order a drink (later, we were never asked if we wanted another round so our friends were forced to sit quietly with no drinks in hand while we gulped ours down so we could get out of there). One friend asked to hear the beer selections, to which our waitress listed them. Since it was noisy, our other friend asked her to repeat what she just said, to which she responded "I just said them." I believe she was trying to be humorous but it didn't come across as such.
Our tequila came, and our friend went to the bar to ask a seated customer to borrow their salt momentarily. As she was returning to our table, one of the other servers gave our friend the 'death stare' and mumbled something to herself. She then turned to her coworker and began saying something animatedly and motioning towards us (I couldn't hear what she was saying, but we were sitting at the table right next to the bar so her body language was quite clearly heard). I caught this whole episode out of the corner of my eye and was quite appalled that someone on staff would do that so openly. Secondly, I don't see what is wrong with borrowing salt from the bar for 20-30 seconds, especially when one asks first. We returned the salt promptly and I don't believe the seated customer was upset or would have even noticed their salt had gone missing briefly.
A larger table/booth then vacated that could seat 6-8, which would have great as we were waiting on another few friends, so my friend attempted to catch her attention, and when she saw us, she came over with a scowl and I caught her mouthing 'Oh my god', which again is completely unprofessional and uncalled for. We asked if we could move to the open table, to which the response we received was "oh they just went outside for a smoke, so NO you can not have that table". 2 minutes later she proceeded to clear the table and seated another group at the very same table about 5 minutes after this encounter, without so much as acknowledging us.
As we were leaving, the server attempted to voice her displeasure with us for leaving a tip that was equivalent to the service we received, which was the coin change left over from our bill and no more (I didn't hear her exact words but could hear her tone of voice). Now, a large majority of the time I will leave a tip of 15-20% varying based on service levels, but this was well outside the guidelines of what I would call acceptable service, so I see no reason that our tip should not match the level of service that we received. I held my tongue, but was thinking to myself that if anything, she deserved a negative tip.
The bar itself seemed fine, had a nice feel to it, and of course everyone has bad days, but I would not say that is particularly appropriate or acceptable to take that out on paying customers. I certainly don't think that my review would be the norm as it comes to this establishment, as many of the other reviews were quite positive, but unfortunately this is all I have to go off. Will not be going again.
