  • There is a lot of potential here but a long string of service missteps means I'll be passing Olives by on future trips. I was here with a group of 10 (had a reservation) so a decent sized table but nothing that should have caused issues. When we were seated, our host ordered apps for the table. They arrived....45 minutes later. I mean - it was a cheese board, carpaccio and a flatbread most of which can literally be thrown on a plate. Not cool. On the plus side, if you are a carpaccio person, the Olives version is really good. Most of us enjoyed wine service from an extensive (and expensive) list. The one person who ordered a drink was forgotten and our server had to be reminded. Twenty minutes later, her drink arrived. Mind you - the restaurant was not full and the bar had maybe 10 people at it. So, on to entrees. I had the agnolotti which had lovely flavors and would have been delightful had it not been served cold. The Parmesan garnish was completely unmelted. If I hadn't been a guest, it would have gone right back. One person received the wrong dish altogether and two others ordered the salmon which was advertised as coming with broccolini, yet green beans appeared. When questioned, our server checked and sheepishly reported that it now comes with beans. Fine - then update the menu and/or train your servers!! By the time we received our entrees, the table behind us (same size, seated after us) had already paid and departed so not everyone had issues that night. Olives charges fine dining prices ($40-50 entree prices) so I'm going to hold them to a fine dining standard. A mistake or two is completely understandable but my experience was that neither the front it back if the house had their shit together. Our server was really nice, thus the second star. Chance of return? No way.
