I treated myself to a massage here for my birthday week. My therapist was Lisa and she was very pretty and nice. I had booked a Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage for 80 minutes at $255 which I was looking forward to and had been watching online for years. When we got in the room, Lisa told me this was not traditional Lomi (sacred or temple Lomi) which is posted all over the internet and which is a gentle, light-to-medium pressure massage that is really flowing and uses mainly forearm motions for relaxation. When I booked the appointment months ago, even the front desk told me it was a light pressure relaxation massage. Heavy pressure massages hurt me so that is why I wanted this type. Lisa stated that this type of Lomi was a deep tissue, heavy pressure massage. I asked her to use lighter pressure if possible. It turns out she did a good job but was heavy handed at times. I had to ask her several times to lighten up as the pressure level was painful. Also the scalp massage hurt a bit and I had to ask for lighter pressure there too. I had requested a woman therapist because I wanted lighter pressure but this was not the case. If I had been into heavy pressure, this would have been perfect. But on my vacation and anytime, I want to relax during a massage and not be hurt! Anyway the best part of my spa day was the Roman baths which were hot, warm, and cold, and the separate Jacuzzi room. Also the ice room was very refreshing after a long soak in the hot bath. I went to the baths before and after my massage. Also the website states that they have a tea sommelier to make a custom tea for clients but there was no such person - just packets of tea you could put into a cup yourself (?). They also had water and juice. It was nice but I was expecting a lot nicer and just what the website promised for the high price I paid of $255 plus tip! The front desk also should not have misled me by telling me I was getting a light pressure traditional Lomi massage. All of this is the reason they only got 3 stars!
