i usually have a severe allergic reaction to a place like this ... the kind of place with:
- vip and nip (not important people) guest lines at the door
- suit wearing-earpiece listening-unless you slip me a c-note or you're a hot looking ho' there's no way in hell you're getting in-doormen
- bored looking cashiers who throw attitude while taking your $30 cover charge
- all the tables reserved for $400 bottle service
- a dj who's set sounds like he threw in an ibiza chillout compilation cd and pressed play
- every guy wearing an un-tucked dress shirt embellished with embroidered / silk screened designs of skulls / medallions / fluer de lis / flowers / crosses
- every girl sporting faux tits / tans / designer purses
but ... we were staying at thehotel and while checking in the front desk guy gave us comp passes ... AND it was only an elevator ride away ... AND the views of the strip from mix are supposed to on point ... so ... we decided to give it a go.
to my surprise i didn't become itchy, get a rash or go into anaphylactic shock ... most likely because:
- we went on a wednesday night during a dead week in vegas (just before nye) so no door line and there were even a few open non-bottle service/vip tables to sit at
- the views WERE amazing (even while taking a slash in the bathroom)
- the bartender was cool and every time we got a round he remembered our drink order
- the crowd wasn't overtly cheesy
- the dj rocked a pretty good mid-tempo set
