  • Yet another long overdue review! Chocobel! You have ruined me for all other chocolate shops! We have been coming to Chocobel for years for our chocolate. I purchased my daughter's first chocolate Easter egg from Chocobel, and every chocolate Easter egg since from here. In fact, this is the only place I go to buy chocolate! Beware: once you come to Chocobel, it, too, will be the only place you will buy chocolate in Montreal. I come here exclusively for our Valentine's, Easter, Mother's Day, Halloween and Christmas chocolates and all the other occasions in between that require chocolate, and thankfully, there are many. This last year I made place settings at Thanksgiving centered around little milk chocolate-shaped pumpkins filled with creamy salted caramel that I purchased at Chocobel. Oh my goodness, I can tell you my friends, that was, indeed, something to be thankful for!!! *smile* While I was a believer in ''dark chocolate only, please'' that is, until recently, my husband has always been a rabid fan of white chocolate before I ever met him and so last month for Valentine's Day I asked the shop owner for a large box of Grand Marnier white chocolate hearts for my husband; these wonderful chocolates are available year around, but perfectly shaped for Valentine's Day. It is devilishly good white chocolate, such as Chocobel's white chocolate Grand Marnier hearts, that have converted me to the wonderful world of white chocolate. Now, I must reiterate that I still cannot tolerate the overly sweet and chalky white chocolate that exist everywhere else in the world; that chocolate I still abhor. However, white chocolate from Chocobel is like mother's milk, never saccharine, yet creamy, uplifting and fortifying. Fortunately, for me, my husband believes in sharing his white chocolate Grand Marnier hearts from Chocobel! Also, you must try their homemade mandarin orange-flavored marshmallows dipped in dark chocolate and served on a bamboo stick. They may be as close as I will ever get to heaven!
