| - I went to Donovan's for the first time last week with my husband using a Living Social voucher. I was very excited to have amazing prime beef steak. I was a little disappointed. We ordered shrimp cocktail which was perfect. They were huge and yummy. My roasted beet salad was very good, but drowning in dressing which I asked for on the side, but the kitchen messed up on that. My husband's wedge salad was very good, but also overloaded on dressing. I ordered my filet med rare, yet only the center core was cooked properly, the outside was medium. I was a little disappointed with that. The broccoli and baby carrots were only slightly cooked, so very very crunchy still. Husband's rib eye was cooked perfectly. Although I have to say, the steaks are blandly seasoned. The cappuccino was perfect.
I want to say that I did bring up the salad mess up to the waiter, and he offered to bring me a new salad right away, but I declined as I don't like to waste food. As for the steak, I didn't complain because I just couldn't bring myself to waste a whole steak like that.
I wouldn't normally return after this experience, but this restaurant has a wonderful waiter named Shane, who really tried to make up for my experience. He loves his job, and was so kind and enthusiastic about Donovan's restaurant that I think I would give this place another try. Donovan's is fortunate to employ a server like Shane. His attitude and service will bring customers back.
Next time I will try the Chilean sea bass or the Halibut! ;)
