I love Nandos as a franchise. The downtown location is extra special because the decor is really nice compared to other Nando locations, but the prices are still the same.
I've been to Nandos over 10x now. I always start off with the Portuguese bun. Then I order their extra hot chicken ( full chicken usually as I'm at Nandos with my family or girlfriend). We also usually get the chicken liver plate. I didn't know about this until recently , and now I get it every time we go there. Dipping the Portuguese bun into the liver is the secret !
We don't tend to get the sides usually. The sides are mediocre and nothing special. We usually just double down on the chicken itself and if I'm still hungry, I'd get an extra Portuguese bun because they are so damn good.
My favourite part about Nandos is how cheap it is. You can get a half chicken plat with two sides for less than $15! My family of four usually grab 2 full chicken $19 each , one chicken liver plate and a few Portuguese buns. The bill comes to around $15 to $20 per person after tax and tip !
