  • Talk about a place that just isn't what it used to be. Granted, I don't think this theater was ever fabulous, but I definitely remember it as being less run-down and better maintained and organized back when I was in high school. My last visit was comparatively disappointing. For starters, why is the ticket booth gone? I guess they made this change a while ago, but being an infrequent movie goer I hadn't been here to see the difference until recently. It used to be that the ticket booth was closer to the doors, separate from the concession stands. It wasn't always an ideal location if the weather was chilly, I admit, but it was miles better than combining the ticket stand with the concessions lines. Thanks to the new set up you have to wait for people to get their snacks and drinks before you even get your ticket. There's a reason this was a separate line originally - it takes longer to get your food and drink than your ticket. During my single visit there were hold ups in my line thanks to problems with the receipts, the machines, missing cups and more. The result? It took me more than ten minutes on an extremely quiet Sunday night just to get a movie ticket. Talk about inefficient. Oh, and they now use one of those "customize your soda" machines. Remind me never to get a drink here, ever - in my experience even a regular Coke from these dumb machines ends up tasting funky. As for the theaters themselves, they've definitely seen better days. Am I crazy in thinking they added curtains to the walls to "dress" the place up? Well, whether the curtains are new or not, they look really silly and won't distract you from any broken chairs or your older, worn down movie seats. Enjoy that little bit of extra space in your theater - you'll need it when you're constantly shifting to get comfortable during the movie. On the plus sound, this is one of the only theaters that won't blast your ears with a super loud score. But honestly, that single perk doesn't mean this place is worth dealing with in my book. The clincher for my disappointing visit was when a single movie ticket and a small popcorn cost me $17.50. Sorry, but for that price this place should really offer a lot more than understaffed concession and ticket lines and uncomfortable, worn-down screening rooms. If I'm going to pay that much for a movie night out, I'm driving out to another movie theater with a better, more efficient and more comfortable set-up - at least then I'll feel like it was worth spending that much money on my night out.
