  • Last weekend I had the pleasure of staying at the newly renovated Crowne Plaza Hotel in Independence. I was attending a wedding that day and arrived a bit early (9am). I asked what time check-in was knowing darn well it wasn't 9am. They said they had a room available and I could check-in now. Awesome! The room was very nice. Equipped with a large flat-screen TV, complimentary WiFi, and two of the most comfortable beds I have ever rested my head on. Seriously! They offer a complimentary local shuttle service (within 7 miles) so we were able to take that to the wedding reception then they picked us up at midnight and brought us back. Open wedding bar and not having to drive myself? Priceless! Returning from the reception we realized we were on a different floor than most of the other wedding guests. We asked if we could move to the same floor and they immediately made it happen. Above and beyond! Woke up and had a wonderful breakfast buffet at their on-site bistro & lounge. Yum! Where's my phone! I can't find it and we're checking out! Maybe I left it in a room. Maybe it's on the shuttle. Maybe it's back at the reception hall. OMGINMP! (Oh my gosh, I need my phone!). I used the computer in the complimentary business center to do a GPS location check on my phone, because, you know, technology is awesome. It's somewhere in the hotel! I notified the front desk that it's somewhere in their hotel and... I wish you were standing next to me to see this... They assembled a search party, created a plan, and found my phone within 15 minutes. Crowne Plaza saves the day! I'm not a worldly traveler but I can honestly not think of one negative thing to say about The Crowne Plaza, it's employees, or it's offerings. I would highly recommend it to anyone staying in the area.
