  • **Thrown from horse and received head injury while riding with Janice*** I scheduled a semi-private lesson for my sister and me and unfortunately experienced one of the worst events of my life at the hands of the trainer Janice. I arrived and a horse (Paris) was assigned and I got in the arena with my sister and Janice did not do a warm up or an assessment of skill level and we immediately started trotting. On the second lap the horse came up on it's back two legs, came down, and I flew over the top-right of the horse and landed on the back of my head. I couldn't speak after I received my concussion and Janice just put my under a tree next to the arena for 35 minutes. During this time my sister asked three times to quit her lesson because of my appearance and Janice could see I wasn't ok and called the main office three times and once shouted at the top of her lungs to have someone help me but continued the lesson with my sister instead of stopping. Janice told me she usually does a private lesson first to assess the rider skill level and apologized for putting us in the arena together, so she knew she should have handled the situation differently. As a result of my head injury I have been to three doctors and reached out to Janice to ask her to have her insurance company help cover the medical bills and her response was "You signed a release." (which I did not because I was never offered one to sign) Zero empathy and she didn't even ask how I was doing now. We are all just numbers to her and she could care less if you spent the last three months dealing with a head injury even though it was on her watch. I saw many children riding and am extremely worried for them to ride at this stable with Janice. Please, please, please think twice before riding here.
