| - I love the Underground City in Montreal! It reminds me of the Underground PATH in Toronto. When it's raining outside, super cold or super hot, underground is the way to go!
What I love most is that if you take the train into Montreal and you're staying in one of the downtown hotels, you can probably walk most of the way underground.
The Underground City connects to all the big downtown malls. So you can go from the Central Train Station, through Les Halles de la Gare, to Place Ville Marie, through this corridor (I don't know what the name is, but it has shops and restaurants), to the Eaton Centre, then if you go west you go to Place Montreal Trust, to Carrefour Industrielle Alliance, to Les Cours Mont-Royal. If you go east from the Eaton Centre, you go to Complexe les Ailes, then Promenades Cathédrale, which then connects to La Baie. We're talking 8 hour shopping marathon all underground, no need to come up for sunlight, haha!
Signage is pretty good throughout the Underground City too.
