| - Guys. I love throwing axes.
This little accidental outing was SUCH a blast. And turns out, I'm not bad at it either. Story time!!
My boyfriend had a friend in town this weekend, and we were all psyched up about going curling at the Charlotte Curling Club Open House. We drove the whole way up to exit 16 and it was PACKED. Like park across the street and walk over 4 lanes of traffic in the rain packed. I am not into this. So we reconsidered what Charlotte has to offer. Insert Lumberjaxe.
I looked at the website and they said that they were completely booked up until 7pm, this is at 11:30am when we were out of luck in the curling realm. So we drove there anyway, because I thought I remembered someone saying that they have walk in hours too. Winner winner! We got there at 11:50am and they fit us into a walk in spot at noon. It's $20 per person for one hour of axe throwing instruction, and play time. Our coach Tim was awesome. He was so patient, and clearly explained all of the techniques and guided us through a few games. Tim plays in their leagues too, so he gave us information on that as well. I loved it, everything about it. Who knew that throwing axes could relieve so much stress?? And it was a blast. They also have Charlotte local beer options on about 8 taps - wouldn't it be great if you could get a Greenman or Great Lakes beer and throw some axes?! *shameless
At the last turn of each round, you have the option to call Clutch, and aim at the green dots on the board. It's like calling the pocket when shooting the 8 ball in pool. On one of our last games I nailed the clutch shot. It's such a weird fun awesome thing to be proud of!! haha. We'll definitely be coming back here. They allow spectators on Monday and Tuesday nights to watch the leagues throw. Don't be surprised if you see me here after a long work day too. haha. I felt completely safe the whole time we were here, throwing axes seems like a dangerous gig, but it's a well controlled atmosphere. Cheers to Tim for coaching us, and for Lumberjaxe for being Charlotte's awesome axe throwing adventure.
