| - My roots with this little store go very deep.
The house next door was my grandparents', for my whole life, until they passed away in the '80s. My uncle put himself through college at UW Madison working here in the '60s. I still remember watching him spray-stencil the sale signs for the windows when I was a small child. When I was going to middle school at (then) Marquette, I was probably in this store several times a week.
So it's part of the family; loved it then, love it now. I don't know how they fit so many awesome and hard to find elsewhere goodies in this small space, but they do. Founder's Rubaeus beer? They've got it. Colectivo coffee? Check. Awesome steaks and house made brats? Double check.
You will have to write a check, btw, if you didn't bring cash; no plastic accepted. There is an ATM, with a fee, if you prefer that route. I get it and understand why, etc., but it's the only reason I don't give it five stars.
Love this lil' place.
