  • I've just returned from one of several visits over the last few years to Care Now and decided that they've always done such a great job taking care of "what ails me" that it was time to mention how great this "quick care" is. The reason for my visit, or rather my wife's visit this time was a pretty bad cold that turned out to be an acute upper respiratory infection...not too cute at all...we were greeted warmly at the front desk by Erica and Sandy and given the litany of paperwork to fill out that seems to come with any form of getting sick or hurt these days...honestly it wasn't that bad...about 5 different forms of different disclosures and questions. The waiting room there is always very clean (Okay, so it is starting to sound like I swing by daily for the hypochondriac special...I've been in this office for the flu, plantar faciaitis..hobbled in on a putter and left with crutches...a smashed finger...had a run in with a hammer, all spread across about 3 or 4 years), again the waiting area is always very well kept, there are tv's to watch, things for kids to play with...not saying you should drop your toddlers off for a play date, but if you've got to bring the lil'uns along at least this way they've got something to do other than pester you while you slump in your chair waiting for a shot at the doc. About 10 to 20 minutes after checking in Jevon, called for us to come back. LIke the gals up front, he had an extremely friendly attitude, was genuinely concerned for what was ailing my wife and really set a positive tone for the visit...in my opinion, bed side manner is about half the battle to getting people feeling better and Jevon gets that! He took vitals asked general questions and then when it was determined that my wife needed a flu test, was the one who had to stick a long probe up my wife's nose...she was none too thrilled, but Jevon was very gentle, took his time and truly understood that having 6 inches of cotton swab up your nose is not a natural act...she was negative for the flu, so BONUSSSS! Brian Shrauder was the PA that came in to help and if the other folks helping us were from the land of nice, this guy was their King! Now for a little contrast, my wife recently smashed her toe with a 20 pound weight dropping from the back of my SUV and unfortunately I went the emergency room route instead of Care Now...the PA that helped us at St. Rose, literally was putting stitches into my wife's toe (about 12) while continually looking up to watch tv...granted it was Star Trek, but the point is she treated the situation like an inconvenience, where as Brian was genuinely interested in what was going on, actually had a conversation with us, explored several different scenarios for why my wife was feeling the way she was, listened to and meticulously answered her questions and then made sure she fully understood what was happening before moving on to the next patient. He had a great attitude, great bed side manner and you can tell that whatever walks through the door from a hangnail to a broken bone, he is going to approach treating the patient with the same great attitude and professional ability regardless of the perceived severity of the situation... I hate being sick or hurt, but when I am, I really like being able to come to Care Now!
