  • If you haven't noticed, I'm as white as they come. So last night was my very very first experience with ramen **gasp!** - well, aside from the $0.10 packages you buy at the grocery store. To be quite honest I didn't know what to expect. I should have known I was in good hands with a group of Yelpers.. many of them of Asian decent. (Is that PC? Christina W. where are you when I need you??) The wait was long, but I take that as a sign of quality, not weakness. We did have a party of 12 so what does one expect? I was just grateful that my fingers and toes were able to thaw from our Yelp Helps event. The menu was complicated for someone who didn't know the first thing about ramen, in that there aren't really descriptions for anything. But I was pleased to see that every ramen offering had a photo. So really my decision was a matter of what looked the tastiest or least complicated. I settled on Miso Ramen $7.50. I figured it was a good basic and if it was yummy I could try something more adventurous next time. The noodles are handmade on location and were thick and tasty - not at all like the store bought packages I grew up with. The meat was tender and fell apart at the slightest touch. I wasn't starving, so I took most of it home to the bf who gobbled up the leftovers (his first time with ramen too). I was pleasantly surprised at how good it really was. The service once seated was top notch. Our waitress was patient, split our checks and got everyone's order correct with the exception of one missed green tea. Not an easy task when dealing with 12 yelpers who were taking pictures and taking notes. Hooray for ramen I say! A great way to warm up on a cold winter night!
