  • I went to Findlay Chevrolet back in August 2014 looking to lease an Equinox LS or LT. My father is a GM retiree so we get a discount on purchases and leases. I forgot the name of the salesman we worked with but he was really friendly. I test drove the LT and loved it, but I knew it was out of my price range. I had seen on the GM website that you could build and price the vehicle and estimate what your lease payment would be. I know these are estimates, but I expected to get $5,000 for my vehicle which was around 96,000 miles. I expected the $1,500 incentive GM was offering at the time, AND the GM Employee discount. I got offered $1,700 for my car, $750 for the incentive, and not much of the Employee discount for a 2 year low mileage lease, they said it would be around $289/month with $4,000 down. Seriously? I was paying $246/month for my vehicle before I paid it off and the MSRP on that car was $29,000 back in 2006 so I knew this was BS. I checked the lease payments on the LS model Equinox just to make sure, and it was still over $200/month to lease. I had to walk away disappointed. I went to Henderson Chevrolet this past weekend, checked pricing on the 2015 Chevy Equinox LT, employee discount, incentive, no money down, and they offered me $3,000 for my trade (Same car I had last year, but now over 100,000 miles on it). The lease payments came out to $169/month. Sold! They even worked the numbers so that I could do the lease for 3 years instead of 2 but still with 10,000 miles a year. I work from home, so I don't drive that often. I felt like Findlay was ripping me off and not giving me the full incentive and discount I was entitled to get. My father worked at GM for over 35 years, so you would think they could work something out for me but all they kept saying was put more money down. I even went to CarMax to see what they would give me for my vehicle and they said they would give me $4,000 for it. What a ripoff. I know you need to make money on reselling cars, but when I'm sitting there in shock over the lowball trade in value price you gave me, and you tell me that my car will just end up on Boulder Hwy at a used car lot, that's not cool when you're not going to resell it.
