| - This place does brisk business and for good reason. They have excellent food at massive portions (for the pastas).
I waver between eggplant parmesan and chicken parmesan and I learned not too long ago that you can ask for double the bread instead of bread + a side salad. I mean, I'm getting Italian food and pasta - why have any shame about the amount of carbs I'm consuming? Speaking of, for ~$10 for eggplant and maybe $12 for chicken parm, it provides at LEAST three meals for the whole size, and sometimes even 4 when I'm not too hungry. You truly cannot beat that- especially since it's always so delicious!
They have lots of stuff for purchase (hence the grocery name) but I've not purchased anything grocery-like except for ice cream. They have tons of drink options, including wine by the bottle for those taking out. Wines by the glass are surprisingly enjoyable for ~$6-$8 a glass (had the red blend and sauvignon blanc this visit).
For the deli items, they have pre-made deli salads, olives, and tons of cheeses at really good prices. They also have sausages but I'm personally not a fan (of sausage in general, so I've never had theirs).
I like a locally-owned place, and this fits the bill, being super close to my house, very affordable and yummy. I've lived nearby for about a dozen or so years, and I feel like I see a few familiar faces when I visit which leads me to believe they treat their employees well also.
Minus a star for
- Using such potent/pungent cleaning supplies in that bathroom that the stench wafts into the dining area, further limiting the amount of seating available (it's been REALLY bad on my last three visits)
- Being super stingy with napkins for diners. Our table was dirty and rather than ask the busy employee to clean it, I wanted to self-service with a little water and not bother him - I was told that napkins come with the food. Sure...that's fine, but when a patron asks for that to clean their own table, you either 1) get the napkins with no comment or 2) clean the table for them. To their credit, I was brought napkins promptly, but why aren't they out for messy people to grab as needed? I'm eating spaghetti for goodness' sakes!!
