I thought I was going to get along with this place given the neo-asian decor. Very modern. Good stuff.
Then the hostess sat us and opened her mouth: "Have you ever had Asian food before?" To a mixed group, where 1/3 of us were Asian.
She explained how soy sauce works.
She explained how to use chopsticks.
She explained how hot oil works.
I politely listened, but in the end, the food reminded me of PF Chang's. The food works, but it's not competitive at all if the restaurant wants to do well. Apparently, I learned that it's a chain that is based in the southwest, but hasn't made it's way to California yet, or ever.
That's fine with me.
I don't want to knock it so hard because of the hostess, but first impressions are important.
