What a delightful stay! I was welcomed (and remembered) for my stay by the general manager. Rosalie was warm and accommodating for my entire stay. The evening desk attendant, Jeff, was helpful with my questions.
Room - 4 Stars
The room was your typical 21/2 to 3-star accommodation. Awesome bed with very fluffly pillows (had to bring in one of my feather pillows because of the loft - never thought I would complain about this lol)
This appears to be an older building that has been extensively renovated. In fact, they were replacing the tile flooring on the main level while I was there. A tad bit of an annoyance, but I am happy to see that they take pride in the property. The only thing I can fault them on for the property is cheaping out when they refinished the bathrooms. Actually, that is the only reason I know this is an older property - the bath tub and surround are from the previous century :-). While impeccably clean, this detail is one that could have brought the property to a solid 3 star designation.
Room Features - 4.5 Stars
Great cable TV on a lovely large flat screen. Blazing WiFi.Coffee Maker. Hairdryer with serious power. Micro/Fridge. The only ding here is the crazy low lighting that made it very hard to work after sunset.
Amenities - 4 Stars
PET FRIENDLY!!! Double edged sword, as I am currently listening to a small dog whine - not pup's fault, but I really despise humans that do not take care of their furry charges. Teena Kitty is loving the place, which tells me they keep it very clean as she is quite particular about smells.
Love the indoor pool and hot tub. Did not see nor use the exercise facility. The guest laundry is probably the best I have ever used. Nice machines, hanging rack, clean, well ventilated and only 30 feet from my room (bonus!)
As for the breakfast, there seems to be something for everyone including this real whole foods nut (bananas, apples, oranges, yogurt). I did make the mistake of eating several foodlike products this morning ("cheese omelet", "sausage links" (the kitty wouldn't touch them after the first bite - I should have known), and biscuits with "gravy" of some unknown provenance)
I did really appreciate the Coffee/Tea service with fresh fruit for those times when I wanted to stretch my legs a bit and grab a quick snack.
Unique Attributes - 3 Stars
The traffic patterns make it very difficult to get in and out of this location (construction preventing a right turn, no U turn signs everywhere, only one entrance. The only major irritant, but one that could not be overlooked for this review.
Being across the street from Nellis Air Force Base was a revelation for me. I had no idea that a flag ceremony happens most days on base and you can hear it for at least a mile away. According to the Nellis website: "Reveille plays Monday through Friday at 6:30 a.m. and Retreat followed by the National Anthem play Monday through Friday at 4:30 p.m. over a giant voice system" (http://www.nellis.af.mil/News/Commentaries/tabid/6443/Article/879571/proper-respect-during-reveille-retreat-national-anthem.aspx) You can set your clocks to this one folks! I personally liked the music I could hear, but I can see others finding a 6:30 am wake up discomforting.
