I've had cleaners from Homejoy twice now.
The first time I wasn't that impressed - the girl worked pretty slow and only did the 3 bathrooms + kitchen sink + vacuum in 3 hours!!! I live in a townhouse so not like it's a massive job. Also, she didn't do a spectacular job. I would have figured that in that much time spent on so few things, the place would be sparkling. I wrote this in the review I sent them and they didn't really care or follow up.
Today, the girl (Katty) did a great job. She got a lot more done and the place was very clean and smelled great. The only bad thing this time was that she broke one of my fancy wine glasses :(
I was also disappointed that I was called yesterday - saying that someone was going to come and see how it's going about half way through (I'm guessing a supervisor). He never showed nor did he bother calling to say he wasn't coming.
I think they have a great price and I love the online service - it makes scheduling/changing appointments really easy!

I'm going to update my review (I've now had Homejoy cleaners bi-weekly since October, it's January now)- although for the most part, my house has been left spic and span, I've had quite a bit of damage/broken items. My tub is scratched up, a broken wine glass, broken personalized bobble head, chip in the paint on my bathroom mirror and a chip in the wood itself on my mahogany coffee table.
It's also been a bit annoying with rescheduling/changing cleaners/cancellations from their end. The last few cleanings, I've been called the day before/morning of with some sort of bad news which has been really frustrating. I'd expect good customer service to perhaps give an hour free or some other form of compensation for the trouble but have gotten nothing of the sort.
