| - If I could give zero stars here I would. While the hotel looks cute but afternoon tea is a terrible experience. The receptionists are rude when you first arrive. If you are early you are scorned and told to wait in the foyer. The waiters and waiteresses are very slow, forgetful, uninterested and unknowledgeable. I have tried this place TWICE before writing a review, hoping for a better experience the second time.
The scones are pretty good, but way too much powdered sugar on top. The jams are ok, but they don't serve enough cream to go with them.
The little sandwiches are uninspired and have been sitting out too long as the bread is totally dried out.
There are plenty of decent tea choices, but I have gotten dirty china/cups twice, sending them back for a clean one. The second visit, the milk I was brought for my tea was SOUR. Rotten. Came out in clumps into my tea, smelled sour as anything. No apology, just brought new milk. I had to ASK for a new cup and a new tea pot. Ridiculous. Not only is that gross and unacceptable from somewhere claiming to specialize in serving tea, it's also unhealthy and dangerous and I could have gotten sick.
The little desserts were gross. They looked packaged from the grocery store. Over sweet, underdelicious.
When you bring a groupon they announce it out loud (potentially embarrassing) and hold up your coupon in the tea room, waving it around saying you have a voucher, etc etc). Not very subtle.
The tables for two are also too small and right in the middle of the room making you feel very out in the open and quite uncomfortable. The larger tables have couches and are nestled into the corner, so those look better.
They have 'fancy hats' there to wear, but I wouldn't be surprised if they gave you lice.
VERY disappointed and will never go back.
