  • HORRIBLE TREATMENT! When you have to bite down on your tongue so hard to keep from crying you think you may just bite thru it. First... I have a question for you.... what's the longest you ever went between dental cleanings? How did the dentist treat you when you finally went in? What? You don't understand the question? Lol yeah. Exactly! It's a strange thing to ask. While making my appt over the phone. While checking in. While getting my X-rays. With the hygienist. And finally... the doctor. Every SINGLE one of them asked me (not quietly either) MULTIPLE TIMES "has it really been 2 years?" "So you haven't got a cleaning in 2 years?" Etc... It was one of those situations where you feel like asking them to speak up because maybe the people down the street didn't hear them. So this seemed to me like it must be a policy put in place to belittle patients. Why tho? to bully them? get them to feel badly so they agree to more aggressive treatments? Maybe. Now here is the part where I started to get upset. The doctor comes in with a bit of a chip on his shoulder. Starts going thru my records/exams (totally normal stuff) but it was the *tone* of how he was saying these things. It was very accusatory. Basically making me feel as if he had a problem with me and all the treatments he was recommending me were a waste of his time. It was SO UNCOMFORTABLE! It was obvious something wasn't right when he finished and he just sat there. Staring at me. Waiting for what? I don't know. It was HOSTILE. SO I snapped back, asked him, "what do you want from me? What is going on here? Every single person has made it a point to mention the time since my last appt SEVERAL TIMES!" - I was very obviously upset at this point. To this the doctor sits back in his chair, cocks his head with a smirk and says, "so what's your excuse? Why didn't you come in sooner?" (Holy CRAP! Did he really just ask me that??) WOW! I was in shock! I had a feeling something was off but this confirmed it. What a complete a$$! / let me just say-NO ONE has the right to ask you to justify yourself to them. ESPECIALLY at a dentist office! / I thought back and remembered I spent 10 months in and out of the hospital/in home care hooked up to machines. I was very sick. Didn't think I would be alive long. I told him I was in the hospital. He pushed and asked me..."What for?" (no. I you not!) I begrudgingly told him. He then proceeded to 'apologize for the 'miscommunication' ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? As if to say they needed 'justification' in order to treat me with respect?? Barf! this is where I start having to bite down on my tongue to keep from losing my shit. I needed to go to work so I was trying not to get upset. It didn't work. As soon as I drove away I wasn't able to hold it in any longer. I wound up at work with a red swollen face. Mascara to my chin.
